Whether you recently had some of your teeth extracted or you require a full mouth rehabilitation, Sunnybank Plaza Dental can provide a solution that fits your goals and budget.
What Are Dentures?
A denture is a removable dental prosthesis that rests on top of your gums. The purpose of dentures is to fill in the space left by missing teeth. Most dentures are made of acrylic, while others have a metal base that clips around any remaining teeth you’re able to retain.
Are Dentures Right for You?
Here are some instances when you may want to consider getting a new full or partial denture:
- When it’s necessary to replace multiple teeth at one time
- As a quicker, more efficient type of full mouth reconstruction
- If you’ve suffered from advanced gum disease
- Your old denture doesn’t have a secure fit or it causes sores on your gums
- Missing teeth are affecting your ability to enjoy your favourite foods
Types of Dentures
Because no two smiles are precisely alike, we offer different types of dentures to fit your oral health needs and lifestyle.
Full Dentures – If you need to replace all of your upper or lower teeth at the same time, a complete denture is the best solution. Sometimes referred to as a “plate,” the full-arch prosthesis is the most cost-effective option for full mouth rehabilitation.
Partial Dentures – A partial denture fills in the areas of your missing teeth, without removing the healthy ones. With this type of denture, you can preserve as many natural teeth as possible.
Valplast Dentures – If you prefer a cosmetic partial denture that blends in seamlessly with your smile, consider Valplast ones. These acrylic “snap-in” partials wrap around your healthy teeth without any metal showing.
Regardless of the type of denture you select, each one is painstakingly designed and crafted for optimal aesthetics and comfort. So we can give you the best possible results, our process is highly detailed.
Caring for and Maintaining Your Dentures
To help your appliance last as long as possible, it’s essential to clean it carefully each day. You also should remove your denture before you go to bed. Place it in a cleansing solution to loosen debris. Avoid using abrasive cleaners as they could scratch or warp your denture.
Then, before putting the appliance back in your mouth, clean it thoroughly with a soft denture brush. It’s also important to clean your gums with a washcloth or extra-soft toothbrush to decrease any risk of infection.
Adjusting and Repairing Broken Dentures
If the shape of your mouth has changed over time, your denture may not feel like it fits well. Regular adjustments and relines can help your appliance to fit comfortably and snugly as long as possible.
Contact our practice straightaway if the appliance is cracked or broken. Don’t try to repair it yourself.
